This picture was taken moments after Robert woke up a few mornings ago. I was trying to catch that "OMG IT'S MOMMY!" grin he does, but no luck. My camera either takes the picture too soon or a split second too late. I think this is the former. In this picture, he's wearing the outfit he got at Sports Prison.

Not counting the picture I have of him right after he was born or the professional pictures we had taken, this is the first picture I have of me with my son. I bit the bullet and made Joab take it.

This face right here? This is the face that means "You better do something quick because I'm going to scream in about .5 seconds if you don't." Every time he makes this face just about, I laugh at him because it's so darn pitiful, and then he can't decide if he wants to smile and laugh because that's what I'm doing or if he's still mad. So he does this smiling/frowning/smiling/frowning thing which I'll have to try and get on video sometime.

And because I can't leave you with a sad baby, here's a happy one!

Why yes, yes he is.

He was going to town on that monkey ear. He must have gnawed on that thing for a good five minutes. I was amazed that he hadn't gummed off all the fur!

Here we are practicing tummy time. As you can see, he hates it.

I need some new photo pose ideas. I know that many of you out there are just happy to see pictures, but I get bored with the same old thing. So y'all give me ideas, and I'll see what I can do!

7-24-10

Today Robert and I went for a walk. I decided to let him try out the stroller part of the travel system instead of putting him in his car seat and attaching that to the stroller. I think he enjoyed it. He was looking around for a bit, but then he fell asleep. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a picture. I think it was close to a million degrees outside (Not really, but I walked around for about an hour, so I was hot hot hot!), and all I could think of was water!

We had a little bit of time in the jumperoo today. He seems to be enjoying it more than the first time we put him in it. He still can't reach the floor, so I have to put a pillow under his feet so that he has something to stand on.

I've been meaning to film his bath time for a while now. He recently started splashing (and enjoying it thoroughly!), and trying to roll around on the counter (he's not quite there yet, but he was knocking our medicine bottles onto the floor), so we decided to put his tub in the guest bathroom to cut down on the water spillage.

On a somewhat unrelated note, the author of one of the blogs I read mentioned this blog in a post! My little man is famous! So thank you Wee Mason Man's Mom for making my day a little bit brighter. I think I actually squealed when I saw it!

We went to work with Daddy today! We even dressed alike!

I took this picture before we left, and I'm so mad at myself because I forgot to take the camera with me. Joab had Robert sitting with him at his desk, and they were both hard at work. Robert was really good, he didn't really get fussy until we were ready to leave.

As I type this, I can hear the rumble of Joab's voice and the happy squeals Robert is making. Apparently, he likes the song Safety Dance.

I've gotten him addicted to House. Nana, we need season 5, thanks! :)

See?! He can hold his head up! He can even talk while doing so!

7-18-10

Thursday night is game night at the Pennington house. I hang out upstairs with the wives (Leah and Gina) and the kids. We decided to put all the babies down for tummy time and see what happened. For whatever reason, Robert wasn't too keen on holding his head up, and spent most of his time trying to eat the blanket. I imagine Ryler and Kelly are looking at him like, "Dude, what the heck are you doing?"

Again, Robert trying to eat the blanket and Kelly is looking at us "Do you see this kid?"

When Robert finally did pick his head up, Ryler started grinning (not that he hadn't been the whole time, he's a really happy baby), but Robert couldn't be bothered and went back to eating his blanket.

I swear I put him down for tummy time, and at home, he holds his head up all the time. He even pushes up a little sometimes. I guess he just keeps all his tricks for his mama.

I always forget to bring my camera, so thank you to Gina for these pictures!

We got a package in the mail last weekend. This is one of the two adorable outfits (and a book!) that were in the package. Thank you so much Aunt Karen! As you can see, he really likes it. He's giving it a thumbs up!

I had put him down for a nap, and was watching him on the video monitor. I saw him throwing the monkey around, so I went in to move it and this is what I saw. I just had to take a picture. Especially since he's looking at me like, "What? you've never had a monkey on your head?"

Oh, hi there. I'm just flying around. What? You act like you've never seen a flying baby before.

He did this pose completely on his own. I love that he's starting to "hug" his toys, it's so cute!

"I'm Henderson, Robert Henderson. Might you be in need of some help?"

(Also might be titled "Here I come to save the day!")

Nap Time!

Another photo from our "Mommy's the Boss" photo shoot. This is the face he makes most often when I'm taking pictures of him. It reminds me of Joey on "Blossom". Woah!

Robert says, "Welcome to my new jumperoo. Let me show you around."

This lovely outfit was picked out for Robert by his cousin Julia, and he is finally big enough to wear it, yay! Thank you Julia!!

Here we are hanging out in the kitchen while Mommy made a cake. It took me forever to get him to look at me. I must have taken 20 pictures just to get this one. Not that I mind, he's so photogenic! He was happy to sit there and talk to Pooh, and bat the rings around.

7-7-10

I know I've been slacking, but to make up for it, here's a video of Robert showing off his head holding up skills, and also, a surprise near the end. He's been super fussy today, mostly he just ate and slept. Normally the sleeping baby would be great because I would get to take a nap. However, he would sleep nowhere but on me. Every time I put him down he would immediately wake up and scream. So we cuddled all day, which was kind of nice.

On another happier note, our little man is sleeping through the night. All the way through. We put him down between 9 and 10, and he wakes up at 7. It's awesome. When we first moved him into his room, we moved the bassinet in there too, hoping that the familiar bed in the unfamiliar room would help. Alas, he woke up at 2:30 and 5:30, and that wasn't exactly how I had planned my Saturday morning. So I figured that if I was going to have to wake up several times anyway, I'd just go ahead and put him in the crib. To my surprise, he slept all the way through the night. I woke up at 7 with my heart pounding, wondering if he was ok, and he was just laying there, talking to his monkey mobile waiting for me to come get him!

The shirt says it all in this one (Thanks Nana!).

A few pictures of Robert learning to fly. He's getting really good at it!

And finally, my chubby little man. So cute!

Happy 4th of July everybody!

7-1-10

Robert is officially 3 months old and no longer classified as a newborn. He's an infant now. Where is the time going? I remember when he was all arms and legs and tiny. Now he's all cheeks and thighs and huge (relatively, of course).
